How to Create Clothing Designs
Finding the suitable style for yourself or the best outfit can be sometimes daunting. You may ease this challenge; just learn to create clothing designs. Create your very own designs which you always wanted but never really could find them. It’s definitely a skill with a touch of patience cum perseverance. The key for making your clothing designs is minute attention to every detail.
First just sketch the design to your best ability. For which you need not to be some professional artist. Decide the size you need, and then note correct measurements beside the sketch. Say for making pant, measure your waist, inseam sizes. For jackets and shirts, measure sleeve length, and cuff length cum width. Then choose some fabric best suiting your design. For blouse pick some lightweight fabric like silk or cotton, or for jacket choose fabrics like wool gabardine.
Then create your pattern, for which you may need self study or professional training for learning the techniques. Consult different websites or books, many courses are available too. Draw the pattern on a marking paper with measurements as recorded in your sketch. This marking paper is available in any fabric or craft shop. For some novice sewer the pieces must be pinned first before beginning. Serging should be done after sewing, which prevents seams from being frayed. Then press those seams along with entire garment.
You should take care while making patterns use ruler and make square for ensuring all lines made are straight. Place the pins horizontally so that they can be removed easily while you sew, and remember do not sew over the pins. Sew the pattern on some broadcloth for testing the fit.
